01 Dec Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge
Perhaps the most complete exhibition of Chicano art, Chicano Visions: American Painters on the Verge is unprecedented in terms of its scope, focus, and size. Curated by René Yañez, it includes vibrant paintings- mostly in oil or acrylic on canvas-by 26 well-known artists such as Ester Hernández, Carmen Lomas Garza, Carlos Almaraz, Frank Romero, Gronk, Patssi Valdez, George Yepes, Rupert García, Leo Limón, Margaret García, and Eloy Torrez. While the majority of the works were drawn from the personal art collection of Cheech Marin, some were loaned from other collectors and institutions.
